Varsity Scout Leader Position Specific Training


   

After completing New Leader Essentials, Youth Protection Training, Scoutmaster or Varsity Coach Leader Specific Training and this course, the participant is then considered a "TRAINED" leader.

Varsity Coach and Assistant Varsity Coach Training

This training is designed for any registered adult accepting the invitation to serve as a Varsity Coach or Assistant Varsity Coach of a Varsity Scout Team, Team Committee members and other registered adults. Webelos leaders preparing to move on to a leadership position in a Varsity Scout team are also encouraged to enroll. This training is divided into (3) three two-and-a-half hour sessions: 1. Getting Started: The Role of the Varsity Coach in a Boy-Led Team

2. Lighting the Fire: High Adventure, Outdoor Program and Advancement

3. Keeping it Going: Program Planning and Team and competition management

Once you have completed this training, you have the opportunity to attend "Introduction to Outdoor Skills", this will round out your training as a Varsity Coach or Assistant Coach. Once you have completed New Leader Essentials, Youth Protection Training, Varsity Coach Leader Specific Training, and Introduction to Outdoor Skills, you are considered a "TRAINED" leader.

Team Committee Challenge Training

This training has Varsity Scout Team Committees has been developed to help team committee members understand their roles and responsibilities. This fun and interactive training serves as a vital tool for new troop committee members as well as for veterans. This training is best when all members of the troop have experienced it, including the Varsity Coach and Assistant Coaches. This is a fast-paced three-hour session. Once you have completed New Leader Essentials, Youth Protection Training, and Team Committee Training, you are considered a "TRAINED" leader.

Introduction to Outdoor Skills

This hands-on overnight day-and-a-half program gives adult leaders the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. Imagine having hands-on knowledge setting up a campsite, pitching a tent, hiking, outdoor cooking - all the skills necessary to see the outdoor program of the BSA come to life. Hands-on participation makes the best learning tool, you will leave the training experience knowing you can show your Scouts how to accomplish outdoor skills while fulfilling rank requirements.
