Who Should Be Trained ?

Cub Scout Leaders

If you have registered as a Den Leader, Assistant Den Leader, Webelos Leader, Assistant Webelos Leader, Tiger Leader, Assistant Tiger Leader, Cubmaster, Assistant Cubmaster, Pack Committee Chair, Pack Committee Member or Charter Organization Representative, you should be going to Training.
Begin with Cub Scout Fast Start and Youth Protection Training. (Both are available online). Then proceed to New Leader Essentials and Cub Scout Leader Specific (Basic) Training. If you take Cub Scouts camping, there is BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) and for Webelos Leaders there is OWL (Outdoor Webelos Leader) Training.

Boy Scout Leaders

If you have registered as a Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, Troop Committee Chair, Troop Committee Member or Charter Organization Representative, you should be going to Training.
Begin with Boy Scout Fast Start and Youth Protection Training (Both are available online), followed by New Leader Essentials. For Scoutmasters and Assistants there is Boy Scout Leader Specific (Basic) Training followed by the Introduction to Outdoor Skills course. For Troop Committee Chairs or Members, their Boy Scout Leader Specific (Basic) Training is the Troop Committee Challenge.

Venturing Leaders

If you have registered as a Venturing Advisor, Assistant Venturing Advisor, Crew Committee Chair, Crew Committee Member or Charter Organization Representative, you should be going to Training.
Begin with the New Crew Fast Start (video based) and Youth Protection Training (both are available online), followed by New Leader Essentials. For all Venturing Leaders there is the Venturing Leader Specific (Basic) Training course.

District and Council Leaders

There is also training for new District or Council Leaders, in addition to New Leader Essentials and Youth Protection. Fast Start for Commissioners, Commissioner Basic Training, and District Committee Training.

Supplemental and Advanced Training

BSA has many options to continue your training. POW WOW (for Cub Leaders), University of Boy Scouting (for Boy & Varsity Scout Leaders), College of Commissioner Science (for Commissioners) as well as the monthly Roundtables. Additionally, the Philmont Training Center offers many specialty courses each year, aimed at a variety of Scouting needs, to assist you in making your program the best ever! Woodbadge is the BSA advanced course for all adult leaders. As long as you have completed the basic training requirements for your position, you are eligible to attend this great course.
