Ideal Commissioners are full-time Commissioners first. Many Scouters love Scouting so much that they take on multiple roles. However, Commissioner service is important enough to be done without conflicting distractions.

Ideal Commissioners are seen often, in full and proper uniform, as an advocate for good Scouting at all levels. Although "ideal," it is unusual for busy Commissioners to attend every meeting and training session available.

Ideal Commissioners attend many appropriate meetings. These vary widely by position, but here are representative meetings for District-level Commissioners:
