The Friends Of Scouting campaign is one of the ways that parents of Scouts, Scout leaders, other supportive families, local businesses, and other charitable organizations can help provide for the future of the youth in Catalina Council by helping keep the program operating. FOS provides about 30% of the cost to operate the council. That's a very important piece of our budget. |
| There are many ways to support Catalina Council, through financial contributions or donations of goods and materials that are used at the facilities. The Friends of Scouting Campaign provides an opportunity to distribute payments to better match a family's budget. Funds are used to maintain Camp Lawton and the Double V Scout Ranch. The Council Service Center is partially funded through FOS donations. The toll-free number that permits people outside the Tucson area to call the Service Center is paid by the FOS contributions. The professional staff and office support are also partially funded through Friends of Scouting contributions. There is much more; this list is just the tip of the iceberg. | |
| Questions: Q: I can't afford to pay my whole pledge at once. Can I make payments? A : Yes, you can pay your pledge anytime during the calendar year. Q: Why should I pledge - I support my local unit through their fund raisers and sometimes donate directly to the unit. A: Each level scout unit must pay it's own expenses; that's the way the program is set up to operate and the council is really a large scout unit. Without adequate funding the scout Pack or Troop folds and likewise, without adequate funding, the council must cut or reduce services. Which one of our services would you like to see cut or reduced? Q: Is my contribution tax deductible? A: Yes - 100% of your paid pledge can be deducted for the year that you pay it. |
