Located in the Southeastern Corner of the State of Arizona, Victorio Chapter serves the Cochise District of the BSA Catalina Council.
This includes the towns of Benson, Bisbee, Douglas, Elfrida, Sierra Vista, St David, Tombstone, Willcox and others. Over the years there have been between 20 and 30 Troops in this area.
Originally, Victorio was the name of the Lodge associated with the BSA Cochise Council that merged with BSA Catalina Council and its Order of the Arrow Papago Lodge in 1964. It was named after a Warm Springs Apache leader that lived in the 1800's whose Apache name is traditionally thought to have meant wild turkey in their language and called Victorio by the Mexicans and Americans living in the area.
Victorio Lodge had two chapters, one for each Cochise North and Cochise South Districts. Victorio Chapter preserved some of their previous Lodge structure by having two Clans within the Chapter when the merger occurred.
Victorio Chapter continues to serve as an active element of the Papago Lodge 494 ad actively supports the four pillars upon which the Order of the Arrow was founded: Serve and Support Scouting; Develop Leaders of Character; Promote Outdoor Adventure; and Be an Active, Honored Brotherhood.
The Victorio Chapter meets the 2nd Thursday of each month at the LDS Church, 1000 Taylor Street, Sierra Vista, at 7:00PM.
