Youth Protection (all leaders)

90 Minutes or approximately 60 minutes online

Certified for all Scouting activities and meetings. Teaches what to look for, as well as procedures to follow when abuse is suspected. Also, teaches adults how to protect themselves.

New Leader Essentials (all Leaders)

2 Hours

Covers the basic information needed by all Registered adults, and is usually offered in conjunction with the Leader Specific Training

Safe Swim Defense

30 Minutes

Learning the rules of running a safe swim.  Required for all swimming activities.

Safety Afloat

30 Minutes

Learning the rules of running a safe boating activity. Required for all boating activities.

Climb on Safely

30 Minutes

Learning the rules of running a safe rappelling and rock climbing activity. Required for all activities with rock climbing and rappelling.

BSA Lifeguard

30 Hours (minimum)

Certified to give knowledgeable leadership for activities on or in the water.

BALOO Training

6 Hours (minimum)

Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation.  Certified to provide a safe camping experience for Cub Scout Packs.

Outdoor WEBELOS Leader Training

8 Hours (minimum)

Finishes basic training for all Webelos Leaders.  Teaches Webelos Leaders camping techniques to ensure a quality outdoor experience.

Tiger Cub Den Leader Specific

2 Hours and 35 Minutes

Expands on the information introduced in the Fast Start Training to prepare the new Tiger Cub Den Leader for their responsibilities, and can be completed in one day or two or three evenings.

Cub Scout Den Leader Specific

2 Hours and 40 Minutes

Expands on the information introduced in the Fast Start Training to prepare the new Cub Scout Den Leader for their responsibilities, and can be completed in one day or two or three evenings.

Webelos Den Leader Specific

2 Hours and 55 Minutes

Expands on the information introduced in the Fast Start Training to prepare the new Webelos Den Leader for their responsibilities, and can be completed in one day or two or three evenings.

Cubmaster Specific

2 Hours and 40 Minutes

Expands on the information introduced in the Fast Start Training to prepare the new Cubmaster for their responsibilities, and can be completed in one day or two or three evenings.

Pack Committee Specific

2 Hours and 40 Minutes

Expands on the information introduced in the Fast Start Training to prepare the new Pack Committee member for their responsibilities, and can be completed in one day or two or three evenings.

Scoutmaster Specific

3 Sessions, 2.5 Hours each

Expands on the Troop operation information introduced the Fast Start Training, and can be completed in one full day or three evenings.

Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills

1.5 days (Overnight)

Provides leaders with the basic outdoor skills information needed to start a program right. The skills taught are based on the outdoor skills found in The Boy Scout Handbook.

Troop Committee Specific

3 Hours

Expands on the Troop Committee operation information introduced the Fast Start Training, and can be completed in one full day or two or three evenings.

Venturing Crew Advisor Specific

5 Hours

Expands on the Crew operation information introduced the Fast Start Training, and can be completed in one full day or three evenings.

Venturing Crew Committee Specific

5 Hours

Expands on the Crew Committee operation information introduced the Fast Start Training, and can be completed in one full day or two or three evenings.

Wood Badge

6 Days

Wood Badge has evolved into the core leadership skills training course for the BSA. Wood Badge: for the 21st Century course focuses on strengthening every volunteer's ability to work with and lead groups of youth and adults and is less focused on outdoor skills, which are more effectively addressed in other courses.
